Meet Joan Romaine, LGPC
Practicing since: 2018
Joan Romaine graduated from Loyola University with a Masterβs degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She also has a Masterβs degree in Public Health from The George Washington University. The mental health field inspires Joan in many ways, from advances in research and treatment to the growing awareness and reduced stigma surrounding mental health challenges. These positive changes, which help clients access more effective and compassionate care, motivate Joan to provide holistic support tailored to each clientβs unique needs.
Joan is a National Certifiedβ―Counselor asβ―awarded by theβ―NBCC (#1371349). For Joan, counseling is a collaborative process where clients can be active participants during and outside of sessions. Her approach to treatment is client-centered and evidence-based. She strives to provide a warm, caring, and nurturing environment where clients feel seen and heard in a nonjudgmental space. She also utilizes a bio-psycho-social-spiritual (BPSS) model of care. This holistic approach addresses the whole person, including religious and/or spiritual beliefs and practices.
Clients can expect sessions with Joan to be warm, authentic, and collaborative. By building trust and a sense of safety, Joan encourages clients to practice concrete strategies in their everyday lives and provide feedback about what is and isnβt working. Through genuine care and practical tools, Joan strives to empower clients with the knowledge and skills they need to create meaningful change and support their emotional well-being.
Joan Romaine, LGPC, is licensed in the state of Maryland (#LGP10872) and under the clinical supervision of Patricia Itzel, LCSW-C (#13811).
