“The idea that some lives matter less is the root of all that’s wrong with the world.” – Dr. Paul Farmer

Max Smith graduated from the University of Southern California with a Master’s degree in Social Work. He is inspired by witnessing the growth people undergo through therapy, as they apply coping skills to their everyday lives and experience healing through evidence-based therapeutic approaches. He incorporates experiential acceptance, cognitive flexibility, mindfulness, and self-compassion in his work as a mental health provider.

Max is also a Certified Case Manager, which informs his practice through a strong emphasis on ethical care, proactive coordination of services, and a holistic perspective on each client’s wellbeing. He utilizes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) tools, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing to guide clients toward greater wholeness and meaningful progress toward their goals.

Working with Max, clients will develop practical coping skills they can incorporate into their everyday lives. Max is committed to providing clients with effective tools and strategies that support lasting, sustainable growth in their relationship with themselves and others. Max Smith, LMSW, is licensed in the state of Maryland (#33582) and under the clinical supervision of Miranda Layton, LCSW-C (#13740).
